Following April's release of a remix EP, Frank Wiedemann's series exploring the back catalogue of Bigamo through the lens of friends of the label continues. This time Wiedemann taps the minds of Gerd Janson, Alex from Tokyo & Neil Flynn, and Rina for remix duties on works by Abrão and Fred und Luna.
The record opens with a 'backwards' remix of Abrão's Por Ela, the light, playful tone of the original born again as a stylish house cut filled with deep pads under Janson's capable guidance. Central to the track is the reversal of the genre's iconic deep keys into a rolling hypnotic overture, which, filling the senses with lush lower frequencies, only highlights the crisp perfection of the percussion. Abrão's naturally percussive vocals are heavily manipulated, and all the better for it.
Alex From Tokyo (Tokyo Black Star) and Neil Flynn putting their hands on Fred und Luna's Galakto, adding enough extra slap to the already ripe-for-remix source material to turn it into cosmic disco heaven. Slowly ekeing the joy out over 9 minutes gives the track the necessary space to warrant the all-essential hook that weaves its way through the latter half. One for dancing in the Garden.
Finally, Abrão's stage partner Rina offers a remix of his own, twisting 'Intensidade' into a Latin strut, filled with swing and a bouncing pace, voices chattering in the periphery as the track drives on, spiked with synth stabs and playful interludes. Psychedelic party grooves? Find them here.
